Limited time offer:
Short Rain Barrel

Short Rain Barrel

Collect rainwater for lawns and gardens. The City of Vancouver sells rain barrels to residents, with a 50% subsidy. When a little is all you need, the short rain barrel is a great option for smaller outdoor spaces.

Rain Barrels

Watering plants and lawns accounts for about 40 per cent of residential water use in the summer. With all the rain we get in our region, you can help conserve water by storing rain water in a rain barrel to use in your yard.

Rain Barrel

Rain barrels are special containers offered by the City of Vancouver. The barrels are half-cylinder designs that sit flush against a wall. Two faucets on each barrel accommodate hoses and watering cans. Approximately 107 cm high and 54 cm wide, each barrel holds up to 341 litres of water, and weighs about 20.5 kg. They’re made from dark green recycled plastic and are child-proof. Other features include a screen to remove debris, and an overflow pipe.

To see how a rain barrel works, visit the City of Vancouver Compost and Waterwise Demonstration Garden at 2150 Maple Street.

Learn more about the Rain Barrel Program at the Waterworks website.
