- The 10th Annual Vancouver Landfill Open House was a Success!
On Saturday, June 5th over 1,700 people attended the 10th Annual Vancouver Landfill Open House. 110 kg of food & yard waste were collected for composting, plus 11 kg of containers for recycling. Thank you to those who attended, presented & contributed to the event. We hope to see you again next year, on June 4, 2011.

From Vancouver:
- Take HWY 99 South over the Oak Street Bridge.
- Continue on HWY 99 through the George Massey Tunnel, then take Exit 28 to River Road North. Stay in the left lane to turn left from the exit ramp onto River Road North.
- From River Road, turn right onto 60th Avenue, then follow the green signs to Landfill.
What's New - Record:
The following list provides a record of past updates for customers of the Vancouver Landfill and Vancouver South Transfer Station.
2010 Disposal Rates
As of January 4, 2010, the garbage rate at the Vancouver South Transfer Station and Vancouver Landfill will increase to $82/tonne, and the yard trimmings rate to $59/tonne. The new rates will be consistent at all publicly owned disposal facilities in the region.
All other rates including the minimum rates will remain the same.
2009 Landfill Evaluations
The City retained consultants to complete a Financial Evaluation of Various Filling Scenarios and the Estimation of GHG Emissions from the landfill compared to a Waste-to-Energy facility.
This information is to inform the public of the financial implications of the future regional municipal solid waste disposal options.
Suspect Asbestos-Containing Materials
Acoustic ceiling tiles, blown-in insulation and vermiculite insulation are not accepted at the Vancouver South Transfer Station (VSTS). These materials may contain asbestos and can be disposed of at the Vancouver Landfill in accordance with the Asbestos Policy. See the 'Suspect Asbestos Containing Materials' section.
All other types of insulation, i.e. fibreglass, must be double bagged for disposal at the VSTS. Max. 10 bags per load.
