Vancouver Landfill & Vancouver South Transfer Station Rates
The rates for garbage disposal and yard trimmings recycling at the Vancouver Landfill and Vancouver South Transfer Stations are as follows:

General Info |
- See Payment Policy for payment options.
- Rates are weight-based so vehicles have to weigh in and out at both facilities.
- All rates rounded to the nearest dollar.
- HST is not charged on disposal fees.

Garbage
|
- Loads brought to the Landfill that require isolated disposal (burial), such as asbestos waste and nuisance waste loads, are subject to a burial charge of $200 in addition to the garbage disposal rate.
- The following garbage loads are subject to surcharge:
- Unsecured commercial loads (100% surcharge)
- Loads containing 5% or more by volume or weight of one or more Restricted Materials (cardboard, newsprint, office paper, gypsum drywall, yard trimmings, and blue box recyclables; 50% surcharge).
- Loads containing one or more Product Stewardship Program Materials ($50 surcharge)
- Demolition material is accepted at the Landfill according to the Demolition and Construction Waste page.
- Asbestos waste is accepted at the Vancouver Landfill for disposal according to the Asbestos Policy. Effective March 1, 2012, the asbestos disposal fee for commercial loads & loads containing 11 bags or more will be $157/tonne plus $200 for burial. Asbestos drywall is not accepted at the Landfill.

Recycling |
- Clean wood waste includes solid wood, plywood, particle board, and oriented strand board that is unpainted, unstained & untreated. It can have nails & metal fasteners attached.
- Mattresses & box springs include foam and futon mattresses. Maximum 4 pieces accepted per load at the Transfer Station. Maximum 8 pieces per load accepted at the Landfill.

Gypsum Drywall |
- Gypsum drywall is accepted for recycling at the Vancouver Landfill. The maximum volume is defined as a level pick up truck load (also known as a residential quantity).
- Up to ½ a sheet of gypsum drywall is accepted at the Transfer Station. It is free with a paid load or $5 without.
- Pre-1984 drywall joint compound should be accompanied by laboratory results to confirm it does not contain asbestos. See Asbestos Management page for resources.

- Gypsum with paint, tiles, plaster, wallpaper, screws, nails, wood, metal, radiant heat wiring, or vinyl board

- Drywall with asbestos
- Drywall mixed with garbage
- Drywall with wire, concrete or electrical outlets attached

- Grass
- Leaves
- Plant remains
- Trimmings
