Yard Trimmings Collection
Basics of Yard Trimmings Collection
The City of Vancouver provides garbage collection to residential dwellings (single-family, duplex, and rowhouses) as well as some apartments and non-residential properties (see yard trimmings collection at multi-family and non-residential properties).
In 2006, the City of Vancouver implemented fully automated yard trimmings collection. Under the automated system, residents are provided with wheeled carts by the City and the carts are emptied using a mechanical arm attached to the collection truck.
Yard trimmings collection is provided 25 times per year (every second week) and charged through a utility fee. The fee amount is determined by the size and number of yard trimming carts. Please go to yard trimmings cart dimensions for more information.
Yard trimmings collected in Vancouver by City crews is taken to the Vancouver South Transfer Station (VSTS) and then transported in City of Vancouver tractor trailers to the composting facility at the Vancouver Landfill (VLF) in Delta.
