Blueways

Vancouver is known worldwide for its spectacular waterfront setting. Its 50 kilometres of shoreline and 2,000 hectares of water space support a wide variety of uses, including recreational and commercial boating, waterfront promenades, greenways and bikeways, and port transportation for a number of industries and businesses. The shoreline also provides a diversity of natural habitat that sustains fish, birds, and other wildlife.

The Blueways program was initiated by the Vancouver Water Opportunities Advisory Group in response to concern over the loss of diversity on Vancouver's waterfront, and the need to develop a vision to preserve and enhance Vancouver’s waterfront environments.

Visitor Moorage/Boater Welcome Centre

As a result of feedback from the public, the City has been working to provide additional transient moorage in Vancouver. Over the last few years, 2,100 additional nights of transient moorage have been created for short-term visitors through marina rezonings and developments, and many marinas in False Creek and Coal Harbour now provide short-term transient moorage. To arrange short-term moorage please contact the marina directly or the new Vancouver Boating Welcome Centre, which is operated by the False Creek Yacht Club. You can contact the Vancouver Boating Welcome Centre by phone at 604-682-3292, on VHF channel 66A, by email at welcome@FCYC.com, or in person. The Welcome Centre is located at the False Creek Yacht Club, on the north shore of False Creek, under the Granville Street Bridge and it is open seven days a week, from 10 am to 8 pm from May1 to September 14, and Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, from September 15 to April 30.

The Welcome Centre provides tourism information, moorage referral services, sewage pump-out, washrooms and access to laundry services. There is dock space to tie up and visit the Welcome Centre and it is open seven days a week, , from 10 am to 8 pm from May 1 to September 14, and Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, from September 15 to April 30.
