Bike racks
As part of the City’s overall strategy to promote cycling, the Streets Administration branch manages bicycle racks placed on Street right of way. These include racks provided as part of the City’s street furniture contract with CBS/JC Decaux, as well as those purchased by other branches, capital projects and local businesses. For general information regarding bicycle racks, bike parking and bike routes in the City please visit the Cycling in Vancouver page.
Placement of bike racks
You can e-mail us to suggest potential bicycle rack locations. Please note that demand regularly exceeds available resources, and all requests will be evaluated based on specific location (vicinity to busy commercial areas, designated cycling routes, and other areas with a demonstrably high level of bike ridership) and site conditions (clearance for pedestrians, loading zones, etc).
Bicycle Rack Application
Alternatively, bike racks can be purchased and installed on City property with a free permit. For more details please see the Bike Rack Application page. This program is well-suited for businesses wishing to install a bike rack(s) outside their store for patrons.
