Country lane project #1
Lane south of 27th Avenue from the lane east of Fraser St. to the lane west of Pr. Albert St.
With the first "Country Lane" construction crews were given the opportunity to work with various types of material used in combination to create an environmentally friendly lane.
The design of the first lane include the use of permeable pavers, plastic mats and formed concrete driving strips.
Construction crews graded and cleared the lane allowance in advance of forming two parallel concrete driving strips. Once the concrete has sufficiently cured, the forms were stripped and the area adjacent the driving bands were backfilled with structural soil in preparation for placement of honeycombed plastic mats and pavers.
In front of garages, permeable pavers were used as a connector to the driving strip. The remaining area was covered with the plastic mat which was topped off with topsoil and seeded.
