Equipment
The City of Vancouver has the following equipment that can be deployed for snow and ice clearing:
- 52 plow trucks with salters
- 17 backhoes
- 6 walk behind snow blowers
- 4 gators (Parks)
- 2 all-wheel drive units with ploughs, brine tanks and blowers
- 2 Bob Cats with plows/blowers
- 2 Bombardiers w-ploughs
- 2 graders
- 2 front end loaders
- 2 brine trucks
- 2 flusher trucks fitted to dispense brine
- 1 brine tanker
- 1 large snow blower
Budget
The City budgets $400,000 per year for maintenance of snow removal equipment, purchasing salt, and training staff. The costs of actual snow removal are funded separately from contingency reserve funds, and can vary widely from season to season ($1.1 million in 1998 to $0 in 2001.)
