Signs, Postering, Sampling, Canvessing, and Merchandise Displays on City Property
Postering
Postering as a form of advertising is acceptable on poster cylinders provided by the City of Vancouver. In consideration of the unsightly appearance that posters give our streets and the cost to taxpayers for removal, the City has provided numerous poster cylinders located on various lamp standards around the city. VanMap has a layer for poster cylinders to view cylinder locations. These are the only areas that may be used to place posters.
Signs
Advertising signs on city property are prohibited, unless the guidelines for placement as set by the City Engineer are followed. One sandwich board per business may be on City property directly in front of the store that is being advertised. The sign must be up against the building wall or at the property line and not in the middle of the sidewalk or at the curb of any street. Third party signs are strictly prohibited on centre medians, utility poles not equipped with a poster cylinder, boulevards, or any other area of City property.
