Getting people out of single-occupancy vehicles and into biking, walking and transit is a key way to ensure Vancouver's sustainability. Find out about Greenways and what the City does to promote sustainable transportation choices. Tips on better commuting choices.
Walking - Making all streets more accessible, safe and enjoyable for walking is a priority of the City of Vancouver. Pedestrians are given the highest priority, and we design streets with this in mind.
Cycling - Expanding the Bicycle Network is an important strategy in the City’s effort to reduce traffic congestion and support a clean, green and healthy mode of transportation.
Transit -A network of transit services has been planned between the Downtown, neighbourhood centres and regional destinations to encourage even greater transit use. Major projects on the horizon include the Canada Line, the Millennium Line extension, the Downtown Streetcar and increased rapid bus service.
Greenways are public corridors for pedestrians and cyclists that connect parks, nature reserves, cultural features, historic sites, neighbourhoods and retail areas.
