How can I request enforcement of walking related issues?

You may contact the Vancouver Police Department, who are the agency empowered to enforce illegal behaviour (by motor vehicles, cyclists, etc). You can contact the VPD's Traffic Section directly at 604.717.2997 or email them at vpd@vpd.ca and put the phrase "Enforcement request" into the subject line area. If you would like to request specific enforcement at a particular location, please provide them with the following details:

• Location (i.e) intersection
• Typical day of the week
• Times/period of worst infractions
• Description of incident/violations, including relevant traffic signage

How do I report a street light problem?

Please phone our dispatcher at 604.871.6200 to report any problems with traffic signals and/or street lighting. You can leave a message any time.

Look for the ID number on the side of the pole facing the street, about 8 feet above the ground, and give this along with the street name. You can further assist us by knowing what kind of problem is occurring.

• Is the light going on and off? Report this as a ‘cycling’ lamp.
• Is the light on in full daylight? Report this as a ‘day burner’.
• Are there many lights in a row out? Report this as ‘multiple outages’.
• Are there pieces hanging down? Stay clear, and report as ‘loose components.’
