Cycling in Vancouver may requires crossing waterways. Use extra caution when riding on bridges. Where possible, use the sidewalk going in the same direction as traffic. Follow directional signage at access points to sidewalks and pathways.
Crossing Burrard Inlet
- Lions Gate Bridge
Cyclists must use the sidewalks and are prohibited from the road.
- SeaBus
Cyclists may take bicycles aboard SeaBus for no additional charge.
- Ironworkers Memorial Bridge (Highway 1)
Cyclists must use the sidewalks and are prohibited from the road.
Crossing False Creek
- Burrard Street Bridge
Cyclists must use the sidewalks and are prohibited from the road (prior to July 13, 2009).
Burrard Bridge Bicycle Lane Trial (as of July 13, 2009)
Northbound: Cyclists must use the east sidewalk.
Southbound: Cyclists must ride on the roadway in the protected bike lane on the westside of the bridge.
- Granville Street Bridge
Cyclists must use the roadway.
- Cambie Street Bridge
Cyclists may use the roadway or east sidewalk (bi-directional shared path).

Crossing the Fraser River
- Arthur Laing Bridge
Cyclists may ride on the roadway.
- Oak Street Bridge
Cyclists must use the sidewalks and are prohibited from the road.
- Canada Line Bridge
Cyclists must use the designated pedestrian/bicycle shared path.
- Knight Street Bridge
Cyclists must use the sidewalks and are prohibited from the road.
