Bike routes: Adanac Bikeway

Adanac bike route

The Adanac Bikeway is a 5.5 km route on Union and Adanac Streets on the north-east side of the city. This east/west route connects False Creek and Downtown Vancouver with the Francis/Union bike route in Burnaby. The Adanac Bikeway crosses the Cassiar, Sunrise, Lakewood and Seaside Bikeways and passes through the Hastings-Sunrise, Grandview-Woodland, and Strathcona neighbourhoods as well as the edge of Vancouver's Chinatown. It is part of the Trans Canada Trail.

This was the first and is the best used of Vancouver's commuter bikeways with a recent count showing nearly 900 cyclists in 24 hrs. The route follows mainly residential streets with commercial density increasing towards downtown. Cyclists can access the Second Narrows Ironworker's Bridge into North Vancouver by turning onto the Cassiar Bikeway from Adanac.
