Bicycle routes: Midtown and Ridgeway Bikeways

The Midtown and Ridgeway Bikeways are described together because they follow the same route for much of their length. Both routes are east/west routes and are located, for the most part, along 37th Avenue. They intersect the SW Marine, Cypress, Heather, Ontario, Sunrise and BC Parkway Bikeways.
The Ridgeway Bikeway follows the Ridgeway Greenway between Yew Street to the west and Nanaimo Street to the east. Greenway features augment the cycling experience and include many cycling related public art structures, central landscaped medians, plazas, street segments closed to motor vehicle traffic and enhanced landscaping.
To the west, the Midtown Bikeway continues from Yew St to connect to the wide shoulders of the highway to UBC and the trails of Pacific Spirit Park. To the east the Ridgeway Bikeway/Greenway turns south on Nanaimo and east on 45th Avenue to Boundary Road. The Midtown Bikeway continues east from Nanaimo to Earles Street where it turns north to 29th then east to its terminus at Boundary Road and Moscrop.
The Ridgeway and Midtown Bikeways pass through the Dunbar-Southlands, Arbutus Ridge, Shaughnessy, South Cambie, Riley Park, Kensington-Cedar Cottage, Renfrew-Collingwood, Victoria-Fraserview and Killarney neighbourhoods. The routes are adjacent to Van Dusen Botanical Gardens, Queen Elizabeth Park and Kensington Park where cyclists are treated to a great view of Vancouver and the North Shore mountains.
