The Seaside route was Vancouver's first bicycle route. It is primarily a recreational route along the waterfront of Burrard Inlet, English Bay and False Creek with spectacular views of the mountains and ocean from the beaches and waterfront paths. It is also part of the Trans Canada Trail.

The route begins at the Stanley Park Seawall where cyclists must ride in a counter-clockwise direction. The Seawall passes by the Brockton Point totem poles, under the Lions Gate Bridge, by Siwash Rock and Second and Third Beaches to English Bay. Separated bicycle and pedestrian paths wind through English Bay and Sunset beaches, through the newly developed former Expo lands to Science World. From Science World, cyclists use a combination of roadways and shared pedestrian/cycle paths passing by Granville Island (where a Trans Canada Trail pavilion is located), through Vanier and Kitsilano Parks and Jericho and Locarno Beaches before coming to the end of the route at Spanish Bank West. This route is an excellent choice for tourists who wish to explore some of Vancouver's interesting neighbourhoods and experience the natural beauty of the city by bike.

The Seaside route is approximately 20 km from end to end. Add an additional 10 km if you plan to include the Stanley Park Seawall in your trip. Estimated travel time from English Bay to Spanish Bank is 90 minutes. The Burrard and Cambie Bridges provide a short-cut for those cyclists who wish to reduce the distance.
