B-Line Bus Routes
"B-Line" bus routes have many features of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. They are fast, frequent, have limited stops, all-door boarding and have access to priority lanes during peak periods.
Vancouver currently has one B-Line bus route, the 99 B-Line. It is the busiest bus route in North America, moving over 50,000 people per day!
The 99 B-Line is currently operating above capacity, with pass-ups and long lineups, particularly at peak travel times. The UBC Line Rapid Transit Study will look at rapid transit alternatives along the Broadway corridor to replace the 99 B-Line.
Current Vancouver Routes
- The 99 B-Line serves Commercial Drive to UBC via Broadway Avenue. It will eventually be replaced by the UBC Line.
Future Routes
In Vancouver, new B-Line routes have been approved for:
- Hastings Street from downtown Vancouver to Simon Fraser University (click here for details in the Vancouver-UBC Transit Plan); and
- 41st Avenue from the Canada Line to UBC.
