Station Design
Transit stations are the gateways to the transportation network. They must meet basic functional requirements, accommodating the flow of thousands of people every day. In addition, iconic architecture can help with wayfinding, and provide identity to both the line and the community. At their best, transit stations are great neighbourhood places and a valuable community asset.
Canada Line stations were designed by several architectural firms hired by InTransitBC, the private company responsible for building the line.
The City provided provided advice on station design through the Development Permit Board and through regular meetings with InTransitBC. Public input on station design was facilitated though several open houses in 2005.
