  Pay in person

  You can pay a GHG By-law notice at City Hall any time.

  During opening hours

  • Hours: 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding holidays
  • Pay by cash, debit, credit card, cheque, or money order.

  Important note Credit card cheques are not accepted.

  When the building is closed

  Drop a cheque or money order through the City Hall mail slot at the 12th Ave doors.

  Important note Make your cheque or money order payable to the City of Vancouver and write the by-law notice number on it.

  Before you mail in your payment

  1. Make your cheque or money order payable to the City of Vancouver.
  2. Write the by-law notice number on the cheque or money order.

  Important note Credit card cheques are not accepted.

  Important note When paying by phone, you will need to provide the by-law notice number.

  If your notice is unavailable online

  If your notice number does not display in the online payment system, check to make sure it is a City of Vancouver notice. If it is, you can:

  • Phone 3-1-1 for assistance
  • Bring the notice to City Hall

  Staff can look up the notice information and process your payment.

  If the online payment system is unavailable

  If the online notice payment system is down for maintenance and you need to meet a payment deadline, phone 3-1-1 for help.

  Returned or NSF payments

  Non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee: $35 per cheque returned by the bank or credit card chargeback

  Note No discounts are available to tickets with previous payments that have been returned by your bank because of NSF cheques or credit card chargebacks. The full ticket amount is due, plus the NSF fee.

  If you receive a notice or summons for a paid notice

  If you have paid your GHG By-law notice but receive a notice or summons:

  • Your payment may have been applied to another ticket for the same offence
  • You may have paid the discounted amount after the 14-day deadline

  Check to see if you have an outstanding balance
