Meter parking

You can be fined under Parking Meter Bylaw 2952 for:

  • Not paying the meter or pay station
  • Parking for longer than the allotted time allowed at a meter or pay station
  • Parking at a broken meter

Parking meter rates

  • Vary throughout the city
  • Are set based on demand and may vary by time of day
  • Are adjusted annually based on parking data collected in the previous year

On-street parking pay stations

When parking near Rogers Arena or BC Place, there are on-street, solar-powered parking pay stations instead of meters. When parking in pay station areas:

  • Be aware that stopping restrictions are often in effect during events
  • Check signs for parking restrictions, to make sure parking is permitted in the spot you have parked in

Report a broken meter

Do not park at a broken parking meter. You will get a ticket.

Report a broken meter online and:

  • Provide the 6-digit meter number located on the side of the meter
  • If you lose money in the broken meter, a time credit of up to $2 worth of parking may be available by calling 3-1-1
