In June 2017, we created a low-cost double triangle plaza at the Union-Vernon-Adanac intersection. It’s a place to sit, hang out, and watch the world roll by.
The new public space is made possible by a spot safety upgrade to the Union-Adanac Corridor, the busiest east-west bike route in the city. This upgrade received significant community support when it was proposed as part of a package of improvements to the corridor.
The current design will continue to evolve over the next few years. We are actively working with local stakeholders to improve the space and foster a sense of community ownership. A permanent design may be considered along with street network changes in the False Creek Flats.
Upcoming events at select Vancouver public plazas, including Robson Square and šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énk Square.
