We’re building a permanent neighbourhood plaza at Kamloops and Hastings to provide a welcoming public space that can support community connections and events for years to come.
Originally established as a temporary pop-up plaza in 2021 during the pandemic, this neighbourhood plaza has become an essential gathering spot for residents.
In response to the popularity and community support of neighbourhood plazas, over the coming years we will be transforming more temporary plazas into permanent spaces.

Plaza stewardship partnerships
Once a plaza is designed and built, there’s a need to plan for how this space will be cared for on an on-going basis. We do this through plaza stewardship partnerships. These partnerships, in combination with public feedback, aim to make sure the plazas are welcoming, accessible, and inclusive.
