We’re building a permanent Bute-Robson Plaza to create a welcoming and vibrant public space that can support community connections and activations for years to come. We are also extending the plaza feel onto Robson Street by widening the sidewalks for more space to stroll and raising the intersection to prioritize walking and rolling.
We will begin construction on the permanent plaza and public space improvements on adjacent blocks on Robson Street starting summer 2024.
The work area will be on Bute Street between Haro Street and Eihu Lane, and along the adjacent blocks on Robson Street east and west of the intersection.
We based the design of the plaza and public enhancement features on input from businesses, stakeholders and the West End community during Bute Greenway engagement.
What's happeningConstruction begins early July 2024
We will permanently dedicate road space to build the Bute-Robson Plaza as a welcoming and vibrant place to gather and improve the pedestrian experience on the adjacent blocks on Robson Street. Early works will start at the end of June, with full construction starting in early July.
