Road closure sign blocking off part of a street

Terminal Avenue emergency sewer main repairs

In late June 2024, a sewer main leak happened on Terminal Ave between Quebec and Main streets.

Pump trucks and crews have been on site to contain any leaks while repair work is planned and undertaken.

What's happeningEmergency sewer main repairs are underway

Traffic impacts

Ongoing lane reductions remain in place in the area on Main St, Terminal Ave, and Quebec St. Expect delays and plan alternate routes.

Next Steps

Crews continue to respond to a sewer leak on Terminal Ave between Main St and Quebec St while preparations and planning for the upcoming permanent repairs are underway.

The bypass system, which allows sewage to flow around a section of the pipe that requires assessment and repairs, is now operational and the installation work is nearing completion. This has greatly reduced the need for pumper trucks.

Permanent repair work will begin in late August. First, crews will be on-site excavating around the leak location to assess the damaged pipe and determine the extent of the necessary repairs. As part of the investigation work, pumper trucks may be temporarily used to assist with excavations.

During this work, traffic interruptions and intermittent noise are expected. No sewer service impacts are expected.

We will provide more details to residents and businesses on the repair plan and the anticipated duration of the closure as they become available following a comprehensive assessment of the pipe.
