Between 2026 and 2028, we’re completing phase 2 of our seismic upgrades and rehabilitation program on the Cambie Street Bridge. This phase involves construction on the piers underneath the bridge deck, in sections of Coopers’ Park, and the False Creek seawall.
The Cambie Street Bridge seismic upgrades and rehabilitation program will significantly improve the bridge’s seismic resilience and address the bridge’s other rehabilitation needs so it can continue to serve us well in the future. We’re completing this work over multiple years and phases.
Coopers’ Park Tidal Terrace
In addition to this work, we’re installing a new climate-resilient shoreline design along a section of the seawall.
The Coopers’ Tidal Terrace will feature a pollinator garden, terraced gardens with native plants, and improved access to the water for the public.
This pilot project enhances flood and erosion protection, supports local habitat, and explores alternatives to traditional seawalls in an urban setting.
