Shaughnessy area sewer upgrades

We’re upgrading critical sewer infrastructure in the Shaughnessy area, between West King Edward Street and West 32nd Avenue and Oak Street and Granville Street.

The existing sewer system will be replaced with a separated and larger‑capacity system, with 1 pipe for rainwater runoff and another pipe for sewage. This new sewer main will have a life expectancy of 100 years to help serve this growing neighbourhood.

As part of this work, we'll also be completing some curb replacement and street repaving.

What's happeningConstruction will begin September 2025

Work will begin on the laneway west of Oak Street, between West 27th Avenue and West 29th Avenue, and will continue west with sewer upgrades in 3 phases. Review the map for details

As work progresses, expect:

  • Road and lane closures
  • Detours
  • Parking restrictions
  • Short term water loss during tie-ins

We’ll maintain access to businesses and residences.
