Shaughnessy area sewer upgrades

We’re upgrading critical sewer infrastructure in the Shaughnessy area, between West 26th Avenue and West 29th Avenue.

The existing sewer system will be replaced with a separated and larger‑capacity system, with 1 pipe for rainwater runoff and another pipe for sewage. This new sewer main will have a life expectancy of 100 years to help serve this growing neighbourhood.

As part of this work, we'll also be completing some curb replacement and street repaving.

What's happeningConstruction is anticipated to be completed by fall 2026

Construction updates

  • Phases 2 and 3 were switched from the original posted schedule of work in order to maximize efficiencies and complete work ahead of schedule.
  • Phase 1 of this work is now complete.
  • Phase 2 is substantially complete and will be finalized in the next few weeks.
  • Phase 3 takes place from the laneway east of Osler Street, moving south to the laneway between West 27th Avenue and Nanton Avenue, and finishing at the laneway between West 29th Avenue and Nanton Avenue.

As work progresses, expect:

  • Road and lane closures
  • Detours
  • Parking restrictions

We’ll maintain access to businesses and residences.
