Georgia Viaduct rehabilitation

We’re starting joint replacement work on the Georgia Viaduct this summer to keep it safe and reliable.

Although the viaducts are planned to be removed and replaced with a street network as part of the Northeast False Creek Plan, the timeline for their removal is still uncertain. Until then, ongoing maintenance is required.

The westbound Dunsmuir Viaduct will not be impacted.

This project is being delivered with support from TransLink.

Funding is provided through their Major Road Network Structures Local Government Program

What's happeningConstruction starts September 2026

We’ll begin replacing 6 joints on the eastern end of the viaduct.

During this work, expect:

  • Reduced lanes and lower speeds on the viaduct
  • Main Street off-ramp closed for approximately 2 months (timing to be determined)
  • Pedestrian detours in the area
