We’re starting joint replacement work on the Georgia Viaduct this summer to keep it safe and reliable.
Although the viaducts are planned to be removed and replaced with a street network as part of the Northeast False Creek Plan, the timeline for their removal is still uncertain. Until then, ongoing maintenance is required.

What's happeningConstruction in progress
Work to renew the joints on the eastern end of the viaduct is now underway until spring 2027. Expect reduced vehicle lanes and pedestrian detours during this period.
Main Street off ramp closed until late 2026
Starting October 2, 2026, the vehicle exit ramp to Main Street will be closed for approximately 3 months.
