Our specialized programs are for people of all ages who are Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bi/Pan, Trans, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Agender, and other orientation and gender identities (2SLGBTQIA+). The majority of our programs are for people who are Two Spirit, Trans, or Gender Diverse (2STGD).
While we provide general descriptions online, the specific location details of 2SLGBTQIA+ children and youth programs, and programs for 2STGD people of all ages, are not shared publicly.

2STGD Swim and Gym
Connect with other members of the Two-Spirit, Trans, Gender Diverse (2STGD) community and enjoy swimming and socializing in the pool or heat areas. The entire pool area (including 25m pool, hot tub, sauna, wading pool, and fitness centre) is available exclusively for this program.
When: Sundays between 11:30am to 1:30pm (program runs year-round)

Participants
This program is for children, teens, adults, and seniors, who are 2STGD. Fitness Centre is 13yrs and up.
Cis people 19 years and up are welcome if they are anchoring the attendance of a 2STGD participant. Cis parents and guardians with 2STGD children are asked to read the “Family Participation” in the Community Agreements for more information.
2STGD parents are welcome to bring their cis gender children.
Program leader
The pool area is supervised by lifeguard staff who have had 2STGD Inclusion Training. The lobby area and information table is supervised by a member of the Queer Inclusion Program Assistant team, who is either 2STGD or has extensive experience supporting 2STGD programs.
Plan ahead
- Personal belongings can be secured in lockers. We do not recommend bringing valuables to swimming pools.
- Do not bring anything scented (hair care or body products, towels or clothing with residue from scented laundry products).
- Kick boards, pool noodles, float dumbbells, and foam mats are available to use.
- The 25m pool, wading pool, and hot tub have stair access. The 25m pool also has ladder access. A chair lift is available for use to enter the 25m pool, see lifeguards for assistance.
- Ground floor washrooms and change rooms have “Universal" signage during this program.
- Ground floor access is level, no stairs.
Swimwear specifics
Wear whatever you will be comfortable wearing, including:
- Clean clothing you have brought specifically for swimming. Needs to be worn during a cleansing shower before you enter the pool.
- The minimum requirement is that genitals are covered. Bottom front pelvic area (thongs are okay, see-through underwear is not okay).
- Chest coverage is optional for people of any gender, at any swim. Chest tissue and breast tissue is fine, visible signs of gender affirming surgery are also fine.
- Safe for swimming. You should be able to move through the water, without risk of excess fabric floating over your head or tangling you or other swimmers (a dress is okay, a ball gown is not okay).

- Shorts and a t-shirt
- Dress and pantyhose
- Thong swim bottoms
- One piece swim suit with straps
- Two piece swim suit
- Burkini or other full coverage suit

2STGD Post-swim Social
Connect with other members of the Two-Spirit, Trans, Gender Diverse (2STGD) community and enjoy snacks and socializing with a different focus activity each month. Focus activities will be shared in the 2STGD newsletter ahead of the session each month.

Join us to hoop, juggle, spin, twirl, flow, and play in an accessible, body positive environment. This session takes place in Room 320 with limited space for large props, so the main focus will be on juggling, poi, kendama, and other small flow toys.

Small props will be available on days we are using Room 320, large props are limited to sunny days in September and October when we can play outside, or from November 12 once we have gymnasium space again.

Caregivers outside that description are welcome to attend with their 2STGD infant or toddler. Cis partners of a 2STGD parent are also welcome to attend with their infant or toddler.

Program leader
This program is offered as a partnership and includes leadership by librarian staff from the Vancouver Public Library and program assistants from the Queer Inclusion team.
Plan ahead
- This program was previously exclusive to 2STGD parents and guardians.
- To help ensure the comfort of 2STGD participants and leaders, cis gender participants without past experience in trans spaces are encouraged to check out TransCareBC's Intro to Gender Diversity course or similar resources to learn more about 2STGD people ahead of time so our program remains accessible and affirming for 2STGD folks.
- Personal belongings can be brought inside the room, strollers may fit inside or need to remain outside in the hallway.

- Aim to check in at the front desk then arrive at the workout room by 7:10pm so the instructor can set up the correct number of stations for the circuit, and get the workout underway at 7:15pm.
- Personal belongings can be brought inside the room and left near the coat rack.
- Do not bring anything scented (body products, clothing with residue from scented laundry products).
- Exercise equipment including spin bikes, mats, dumbbells, and a TRX system are provided. A water fountain is located just outside the room.
- Our space will have bright overhead lighting that is dimmed for low-sensory sessions.
- Ground floor washrooms are binary with "gender diverse people welcome" signage. A single-user washroom is available on the second floor beside the binary washrooms, accessed by stairs or elevator (requires cashiers to swipe for access).

Registration and cancellation
- Registration is not required, but it allows us to contact you in the event of a last-minute cancellation. If more people arrive than the room capacity allows, registered participants will have priority over drop-ins.
- Online registration closes 2 hours before the program starts, but if the session does not display as "full", there are still spaces available for drop-in.
- If you have already registered and need to withdraw from the session with more than 24 hours notice, go to vanrec.ca, My Account, then Transaction and Payment History.

Their current focus is on relearning how to be creative and bring joy into their daily life, especially in community with fellow neurodivergent, disabled and/or genderqueer and non-conforming beings.

2STGD Yoga
This is a weekly restorative yoga series designed specifically for the gender diverse community instructed by Doaa Magdy (she/they). This trauma-informed and neurodivergent-friendly offering fosters community care and collective healing. You’ll leave feeling lighter and filled with self-compassion.
When: Thursdays between 8pm and 9pm, (program runs year-round)

Doaa (she/they) is an award-winning visionary, multidisciplinary artist and yoga teacher. She weaves her passion for art and yoga by integrating creativity, storytelling, and mindful movement into her teachings.
Her yoga offerings are a unique, holistic experience rooted in radical self-compassion, community building, and healing through joy. Doaa views the yoga mat as a portal for collective healing, using accessible and neurodivergent-friendly techniques to soothe the nervous system. Her contagious energy is guaranteed to brighten your day and invite tenderness into your life.
Plan ahead
- Aim to check in at the front desk then arrive at the workout room by 5:40pm to give yourself time to set up your mat and equipment, so the instructor can get the session underway at 5:45pm.
- Personal belongings can be brought inside the room and left against the back wall.

- Our space will have overhead lighting turned on before and after class, and salt lamps and amber LED lanterns will be used during class during the darker months when there is insufficient natural light. Personal belongings can be placed along the back wall.
- Second floor washrooms will be marked "Universal", and a single occupancy washroom is available.
- Second floor is accessed by stairs or elevator. Underground parking does not have automated door openers to the elevator, limited street parking is available nearby.

Queer youth drop-in
(11 to 16 years)When: Saturdays 2pm to 4pm in an East Vancouver location
A safe and inclusive space for 2SLGBTQIA+, questioning or unlabelled youth to authentically be themselves. Together, we'll co-create a space to share our experiences, learn from each other and have fun! We have pool, table tennis, foosball, a Nintendo switch and more! We’ll plan activities including art, cooking, watching queer media, on-site recreational programming like skating and swimming, and even out-trips! Drop by any time - snacks will be provided. Boxing for 2STGD youth
(12 to 18 years)When: Wednesdays, 3:30pm to 4:30pm in an East Vancouver Location. Offered fall, winter, and spring.
This class will teach the basics of punching and footwork of boxing, which is not only fun and fosters confidence and body awareness. Boxing is also an excellent practice for coordination and overall movement literacy. Some youth learn to discover their strength, some to regulate their strength. Queer youth Create
(13 to 17 years)When: Fridays, 7:15pm to 8:15pm in a South Vancouver location. Offered fall, winter, and spring.
Queer Youth Create combines artistic expression with queer identity, providing a space for LGBTQ+ youth to be creative! We will explore drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and comic storytelling, and more. Classes will be led by Wake Darrah Cook, Emily Carr Alumnus and published comic artist, with guest demos and instruction from fellow queer artists. This program is free.
