Granville Street (between Georgia and Davie street) will be closed to bus and vehicle traffic from June 8 to July 26, 2026, for the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone.
Help shape the future of Granville Street
Together with Downtown VAN, we’re gathering feedback through public and business surveys, transportation and transit data, and input from partners. Share your feedback through our public survey, open June 11 to July 19, 2026.
This summer, we have partnered with the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association (Downtown VAN) External website, opens in new tab to transform Granville Street into a vibrant pedestrian zone from June 11 to July 19, 2026, while Vancouver hosts the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
The Granville Street Pedestrian Zone welcomes residents and visitors to a people-first street that:
- Supports local businesses
- Creates a dynamic, family-friendly destination space
- Showcases Vancouver and enhances the tournament experience
What's happeningUpdates to the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone
We're making adjustments to support safety and create more space in the Granville Street Pedestrian Zone. For the duration of the Pedestrian Zone:
- Robson St at Granville St will be closed to vehicles. Vehicle access to the immediate area will be supported through lane access.
- To support crowd management and safety on FIFA World Cup 2026™ match days and other busy days, other intersections (like Smithe St and Nelson St) may be closed by the Vancouver Police Department in response to high pedestrian volumes on a case-by-case basis.
- Traffic controls will continue to be in place at all intersections to allow emergency access into the Pedestrian Zone as needed.
- Georgia St and Davie St will continue to remain open to support vehicle access across the city.
We will continue to monitor access and operational needs within the Pedestrian Zone to ensure fans, locals, and visitors alike can continue enjoying the celebrations safely.
