2026 Water Street Pedestrian Zone

Trounce Alley repairs
As of May 2026, the Trounce Alley repairs are now complete.

Starting November 2025, we’re carrying out surface restoration on a section of Trounce Alley, between Carrall Street and the western boundary of Blood Alley Square.

This project involves rehabilitating the alley’s surface to match and complement the design and materials used in Blood Alley Square, enhancing the overall aesthetic and continuity of the area.

The work includes:
- Improving the road surface with concrete and granite pavers
- Improving storm water drainage
Traffic impacts
- Access to Trounce Alley between Carrall and Abbott streets will be limited to local vehicle and pedestrian traffic only.
- Full closure of Carrall Street between Water and Cordova streets to vehicle traffic, with controlled access for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Temporary parking restrictions may be implemented along Carrall Street, Abbott Street, and nearby side streets. Watch for no parking signs.
- We will monitor traffic and loading impacts during construction and make adjustments if required.
Business will be open during the construction period.

This work is part of investments we're making in the near future to improve the public realm and to complete necessary infrastructure upgrades in the area.
