The Vancouver Park Board is upgrading the grass field at Montgomery Park to increase field capacity by up to 50% and ensure year round usage.
The design of the fields was completed through consultation with the Vancouver Field Sports Federation.
Upgrades include:
- Expanding playfield areas
- Installing new turf grass
- Irrigation
- Drainage
- Fences
- Goal posts as required

COVID-19 resulted in significant disruptions to supply chains worldwide, causing shortages of materials, including pipes used for irrigation and drainage.
Despite these challenges, construction of the upgrades were completed in late 2022 and opened for passive uses in January of 2023. The grass fields underwent regular spring maintenance and were fully opened for regular use in May of 2023.
