Templeton Park track

Templeton Park Track Renewal

Concept details

Working with local track users groups, the project team put together a design that includes:

  • Replacing the existing three-lane track surface with low-impact, rubberized surfacing
  • Designating lane markings to more clearly delineate two running lanes (interior) and one walking lane (exterior)
  • Adding a new stretching zone adjacent Templeton Pool

The Vancouver Park Board is renewing the existing track at Templeton Park. The renewal will improve leisure and recreational opportunities for the community, help provide equitable access to these facilities, and promote participation in physical activity.

These improvements follow the recommendations outlined in the Vancouver Park Board Track and Field Strategy that identifies Templeton as a Category ‘C’ facility intended for casual fitness and informal recreation. This designation was determined based on the existing track’s non-regulation 300m distance and site constraints that do not allow for expansion.

What's happening

We are completing the installation of the tracks coloured rubber topcoats as well as designated lane and distance markings. Construction is anticipated to be completed by summer 2022.

During construction, the existing track and playground will be closed to ensure public safety. Alternative tracks can be found at Empire Fields or Britannia Secondary School. Other playgrounds can be found in nearby Pandora and Woodland parks. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
