The Vancouver Park Board, in partnership with the Vancouver School Board, is expanding the existing track and field facility at Kerrisdale Park – Point Grey Secondary School following recommendations outlined in the Track and Field Strategy.
The upgraded amenities will:
- Improve training and recreational opportunities for facility users
- Better serve the city’s population growth and increased participation in track and field sports
- Help provide equitable access to these facilities and promote participation in physical activity
Proposed upgrades
- Replacement of the existing 6-lane 400m track with new low-impact, rubberized surfacing
- New and upgraded jumping and throwing amenities
- Other improvements to seating, storage, lighting and site accessibility
What's happeningDecember 2023 Update
Construction has started. The contractor has initiated demolition works that will be followed by civil and drainage installations. The existing track and synthetic turf field and parking lot are now closed until project completion to help reduce closure time and ensure public safety.
