We’re restoring the beach access point, including the staircase and adjacent slopes, located between Dunbar Street and Cameron Avenue in the West Point Grey neighbourhood.
This access point was closed in late 2021 due to localized damage caused by heavy rainstorms.
Beach access repairs
Work includes:
- Repairing the concrete staircase and foundations
- Stabilizing slopes adjacent to the staircase
- Installing riprap at the lower portions of the slopes
What's happeningRepair work starts fall 2026
Design work is underway and construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2026, pending permitting. We expect the beach access point to re-open by early 2027.
Information icon During the closure, a nearby shoreline access point is about 400 metres away (a 4 to 5 minute walk) at Point Grey Road and Waterloo Street.
